The Church and the Post-Chrisentdom Age
Christianity once shaped British society, however, as the rise of the current culture occurred, the Christian faith lost influence and position. Christianity no longer holds the authority it once had. Christianity is no longer the ‘belief’ of choice in culture. Britain is now in a Post-Christendom setting, this brings significant challenges and opportunities to the local church, which if embraced, could lead to serious impact for the Kingdom.
Christians who swear....?
In a society where swearing seems commonplace in conversation and speech, there is a growing trend in Christians who swear. It might seem unusual for some Christians, especially for those who have been believers for a long time, but to others, there is a surprise when they are challenged on their use of language. Are you Ascending?
Alister McGrath described Christians as “pilgrims and wayfarers across the face of this world, who try to make sense of it as we pass through.”[1] As Christians pilgrim through life, it can be described that their faith is one of an ascent. How many of us have considered what other versions there are and how do they differ? There are so many – NIV, NLT, KJV, NKJV, MSG, ESV, GNB and many more. So how do we know for sure which one we should use?The Bible is the Bible, right? So why is there so many different translations? I can do all things, or can I?
Have you ever heard someone quote Philippians 4:13? The verse states “I can do all things through him who strengthens me”. We usually quote this verse when we need to muster up some courage or we quote the verse toward others when they need some encouragement.
