EMBA Safeguarding Procedure for Churches

The following are important:

  •  The church has an ‘up to date’, agreed and working Safeguarding Policy with

    appropriate procedures in place.

  •  The church has a named person as the Designated Person for Safeguarding (DPS).

  •  All church post holders are ‘up to date’ with BUGB ‘Excellence in Safeguarding’ Training (Levels 2 and 3 as appropriate) and have current, ‘up to date’ DBS checks.

A concern about a Minister or Lay Pastor

Any concern for a child or an adult:

A. The person with the concern formally notes the information surrounding the concern. Person notifies the DPS that same day.

B. The DPS will take the necessary action which may include contacting:

- Your Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) for safeguarding - The CCPAS advice line
- An EMBA Safeguarding Adviser / an EMBA Regional Minister
- BUGB Safeguarding Team

C. As needed meetings will be held to plan a way forward and to take appropriate action.
